GET TO KNOW ME:
THE GIRL BEHIND THE CAMERA
Hi! My name is Joy Yang, a Houston-based photographer who just loves taking pictures. It started off as a hobby and it became a passion - a passion to make other people happy and feel confident/warm when they see themselves through the way I see them in my lens.
Born and raised in Taipei, Taiwan and moved to Houston, Texas in 2012. Graduated from the University of Houston in May 2019 with a marketing major and sales/finance minor. I am your local Houstonian who is still amazed by how big Texas is and only says Y'ALL instead of you all.
I love mountains more than the sea. I can not function without iced coffee. I like any dessert that has matcha in it. When not working, you can find me binge watching k dramas at home, playing boardgames with friends, planning my next trip, or doing something outdoorsy.
I have two cats, their names are Alfred (one grumpy old grandpa) & Beryl (one sweet sweet girl). My boyfriend and I also adopted an Australia cattle dog in Sept 2023, her name is CJ (@cj_the_blue_heeler)! It surely has been fun making sure everyone gets along with each other at home...
Photography wise, I have the most fun working with couples! There's this indescribable magic when you point your camera at two people crazy about each other. Call it cheesy, call it cliché, but capturing couples through my lens is my jam. Couples have this incredible way of communicating without saying a word. It's like an unspoken language of glances, touches, and stolen kisses. As a photographer, I get to translate that silent love story into a visual narrative. No script, just genuine emotion.
When you choose me as your photographer, you can expect me to hype you up on the day of your session/wedding, help tell your unique (love) story in your own way, assist you with posing throughout the process, give you recommendations on props/outfits prior, and most importantly - make you feel comfortable and confident in yourself in front of the camera so we can capture candid moments and genuine smiles.
I look forward to working with you, please don't be shy and come say hi!
